I’ve been plugging away on the meadow garden, and finally finished tilling yesterday. I’m glad I decided to use the rototiller -- it saved me quite a bit of time over using a shovel or mattock.
Made up a batch of compost tea yesterday, which I’ve never tried before. It seems fairly straightforward -- here’s what I used:
- 4 cups worm castings
- 2 cups compost
- 2 cups forest soil
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 cup kelp meal
- 1 cup rock dust
- 1 cup effective microbes (for Bokashi)
- 4 1/2 gallons well water
I carved a really nice piece of manzanita into a big cooking spoon, from one of the few that fell in the snow a few weeks back. It’s amazing how smooth working with green manzanita is compared to even a bit dried.
