Started messing with soil blocks today, which I plan on starting seeds in. I made up Eliot Coleman’s micro block recipe, which is used for 3/4” blocks primarily to germinate seeds. Then you transplant those blocks into the 2” blocks. I was having a tough time getting the consistency right - I think I made it too wet, since the mix kept sliding out the bottom of the blocks before I could make the transfer.
I pruned a couple of the old apple trees and the smaller pear tree as well. They still need some staking but I feel pretty good about them.
The ducks have really slowed down in their laying lately, and I may have figured out why today — they’re laying them in the orchard. I found a few of them partially buried in mulch today.
And the pond is officially overflowing.
