Well, we got around 7” of snow overnight and during the morning. I’ve never seen the trees droop so much. I spent some time pruning, but its hard to prune when you can’t feel your fingers.

The snow wreaked havoc on some of the manzanitas. Several trees had large branches snap off, while a few others that look beefy and relatively healthy above the surface were literally uprooted. The roots broke clean off on one side, leaving the shrub lying on the ground with soil all around the base. I’m still bewildered as to how that happened exactly — the only explanation I can think of is the weight of the snow on the upper limbs leaning too far in one direction. Maybe they weren’t that healthy after all.
